MAYORAL PROCLAMATION OPENS NEW SEASON OF DOWNTOWN OWOSSO FARMERS MARKET
Market Master Tracey Peltier, Karen Kong Honored
The new season of Downtown Owosso Farmers Market opened on Saturday with unexpectedly clear skies and plenty to see, touch, smell, and, of course, buy.
Mayor Chris Eveleth provided a proclamation to officially ring in the new season and Market Master, Tracey Peltier, and Karen Kong, who have been dedicated to growing the market were honored and received keys to the city. Former Owosso Mayor-turned-State Representative, Ben Frederick, was also on hand.
The market takes place each Saturday from May through October on Exchange street. Everything from meats and fresh lake fish, baked goods, organic foods, sushi and even flowers. You can even find crafts at the Downtown Owosso Farmers Market.
Market patrons also enjoy live entertainment and special events like Grillin' in the Streets and Moonlight Market -- this year, to be held on August 3rd.
The last Saturday each month is Free Kids Day with bounce houses, face painting and activities.
This year, Downtown Owosso Farmers Market expands to include several Thursday dates at Curwood Castle Park; June 15th, 22nd and 29th and July 13th, 20th and 27th.
The market opens at 9am in May and October. June through September the market opens at 8am.
