On Tuesday, the Environmental Protection Agency and the Army Corps of Engineers announced they will rescind the Obama Administration's Waters of the U.S. rule regulating water on farmers' fields. The agency will re-codify the environmental regulations and protections that existed in 2015. Those regulations have remained in effect because the Obama Administration's proposed rule had been stayed by the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals and never had the force of law.

Congressman John Moolenaar released the following statement:

"[The] decision by the EPA reins in the federal government and it is a victory for the 15,000 farmers in my district. By ending the legal uncertainty created by the Obama Administration's reckless, overreaching rule, Michigan farmers will be able to raise their crops and livestock without worrying about the possibility of the federal government coming to regulate ditches and mud puddles on their fields."

Tuesday's announcement was also welcomed by The American Farm Bureau Federation.
