100.3 WNIC in Detroit and Star 105.7 in Grand Rapids, sister iHeartMedia stations, have already made the switch from their regular formats to the popular all-Christmas programming.

Mid-Michigan stations probably aren't far behind.  While Townsquare Media isn't announcing when or if Lansing-based 99.1 WFMK will flip, traditionally, the station has made the move on the Friday prior to Thanksgiving.

Meanwhile, other mid-Michigan stations usually begin to sprinkle in the holiday flavor beginning Thanksgiving Day.  Area stations that have added holiday songs to their regular rotations in recent years include WFMK sister-stations, 100.7 WITL and 97.5 NOW FM in Lansing and Cars 108 in Flint.  Cumulus-owned CK 105.5 in Flint is among those stations as well.

88.1 Smile FM in Lansing and 89.7 Smile FM in Flint have also added Christmas songs by Christian artists into rotation in the past.

Uplift Shiawassee Publisher, Josh Strickland, can be heard weekday mornings from 5 to 10am on Smile FM.

The great debate rages on about how early is too early for Christmas products, commercials, events and music, but many radio stations experience a boost in fall ratings as a result of the enhanced programming, prompting some companies to launch the festive format earlier and earlier.

One northern Michigan company signed a station on the air in the fall of 2016 with an all-Christmas format and once the holidays passed, shut the station back down again.
