Supporters say it's critical that the details about Tuesday's proposal get to voters now, because if it's defeated on election day, it will be a severe blow to all school budgets in the district.
Byron, Corunna, Durand, Laingsburg, Morrice, New Lothrop, Owosso and Perry schools will all be impacted by Tuesday's election, and it's important for voters in each of those areas to understand exactly what passing the millage would mean to them financially.
The median value of Shiawassee County homes is $105,500 according to the US Census Survey, a Shiawassee RESD handout notes. For a home valued at $105,500, with a taxable value of $52,750, 0.5882 mill equates to approximately $31.02 per year.
The restoration of the 0.5882 mills will protect and maintain the full 4.2330 special education mills originally authorized by voters.
Polling stations open at 7am on Tuesday, August 7th.
