While Some Superintendents Sing, Others Deliver Joyous News In More Subtle Ways
Durand School Closing Announcements Go Viral

While some Superintendents have made a splash with announcing winter-related school closings in song, recently Durand schools Superintendent Craig McCrumb has been getting some laughs using a much more subtle approach.
On January 28th, Jillian Boots was one of a number of people who caught some bonus commentary alongside the notice that Durand scools would be closed that appeared on the ABC 12 website. Like many others, she got a laugh out of it.
"Probably Wednesday too"
Maybe it wasn't meant to be a joke. The district did close on Wednesday too, after all. But a lot of people found the unexpected sidebar to be amusing.
On February 11th, in an announcement that February 12th classes were cancelled, sentiments about the situation were included.

"Here we go again..."
The bonus note was seen both on the TV station's website and scrolling across TVs on Monday evening. Jamie Chapman captured the image above at the perfect moment when even the program airing on ABC 12 seemed to imitate what many parents' faces probably looked like upon reading the message.
Many other parents shared screenshots of the listing from the station's website.
The announcement followed a letter released by Superintendent McCrumb earlier in the day that explained where the district stood relative to snow days and state government requirements for instructional hours. Legislators are currently working to forgive some snow days. In the meantime, McCrumb has asked both staff and parents to plan ahead for possible added days to the school year. Those additions would fall between June 6th and June 14th.
