Abby Koenig, a project participant, stated, "It was a great opportunity to increase public awareness about the health of our community, both good and bad. Teens don't often feel listened to, so we really appreciated the opportunity." County Commissioner Brandon Marks, also a member of the Board of Health, commented “It’s great seeing our youth utilize their wonderful artistic talents to raise awareness of important health issues facing our communities.”
Common unhealthy themes were abandoned buildings, litter and cigarette usage. Healthy themes included exercise, healthy diet and spending time outdoors. For more information about the project or to view the exhibit, please contact the Shiawassee County Health Department at 989-743-2356.
