The Shiawassee Arts Center opened a new exhibit this week, featuring the works of artists representing the Flint Artists Market, the P3 Artist Group of Flushing and Sheryl Stephens of Holt. The exhibit, which opened March 13 and runs through April 22, is generously sponsored by American Speedy Printing, Getzen & Connell CPAS and Travis & Kristina Yaklin. The public is welcome to attend the opening reception to enjoy refreshments and music with the artists on Sunday, March 18, 2-4pm.
Sheryl Stephens is from Holt and has been designing unique, one of a kind creations for over 25 years. She is well versed in all forms of bead weaving, specializing in a freeform style of bead embroidery. She also recently began featuring upcycled vintage items and fabrics in her works of art. Each piece is created using a needle and thread, usually one bead at a time. Sheryl’s passion for her creative artwork shows in every piece she makes.

The Flint Artist Market is composed of 21 artists (2 in memoriam) working in a wide variety of art media. The members are actively producing art, have current resumes and are regularly accepted into juried competitions. Members exhibit together in select galleries throughout Michigan. FAM believes it’s important to support the arts, especially in our community.

The P3 Group of six are painters, printers and potters brought together by artist, Barbara White of Flushing. Barbara passed away late last year and the group will go on with the exhibit and feature Barbara’s paintings in her memory. This exhibit is a show of contemporary artists displaying 3D and 2D works on various media covering a spectrum of expressions from realistic to symbolic images which reflects each artist’s passion and personal style.
