Durand-Based Dog Rescue Seeking Foster Home

Will You Have Mercy?

Golden Gate Rescue

Golden Gate Rescue is a Durand-based non-profit rescue of large breed and senior dogs.  The organization works to re-home dogs, either in foster or adoptive situations, and Katie Johnson, the 501c3's President, says there is an urgent need to find a home for Mercy.

Mercy is approximately 3 years old, Johnson told Uplift Shiawassee.  She came from a severe, 17 dog neglect situation that was followed by a drawn out court case.

Despite being locked in a shed with no food or water and forced to nurse in her own excrement, Mercy is very loving and wants to please her people, Johnson said.

Mercy needs a home with no cats or female dogs because she is very dominant. However, she is crate trained and knows commands. She is currently fixed, up to date on shots, on preventative medicine, and will be microchipped.

For fosters, all food, vet care, and related necessities are paid. All that is required on the foster's part is to provide love and guidance to prepare them for a successful life.

Ultimately, Golden Gate Rescue aims to find Mercy her "forever" home.
